Apple Crumble

Hack into Chef Marlon Lobo’s Gourmet Food 5’iles and cook in 5 easy steps.

To me, an apple crumble is all about the crispy texture of a crumble that compliments the mellow sweetness of caramelized apples with a hint of cinnamon.
For the crumble
Muesli – 1 cup
Maida – 1/2 cup
Salted butter – 30gm
For the filling
Granny Smith apples – 3 no.
Lime juice – 1tbsp
Demerara sugar – 2 tbsp
Cinnamon powder – 1 tsp
Raisins – 3 tbsp
Chopped almonds – 3 tbsp
Salted butter – 20gm
Salt – A good pinch
1) Begin the recipe by collecting your ingredients or ‘mise en place’
2) Peel, deseed & chop the apples into small 1cm cubes. Add a spoon of lime juice & mix well. This will prevent the apples from going black.
3) Add them to a non stick pan & place it on a high flame. Add in the sugar, cinnamon powder, raisins, almonds, butter & salt. cook for about 10 min. till well caramelized. Don’t forget to stir using a wooden spoon. Once done, take off the gas and cool.
4) For the crumble, mix the museli and flour together. Add in the butter and with the tips of your fingers, rub it in evenly. Bake the mix in a pre heated oven at 180*c for about 10 min. Once golden brown, remove and cool.
5) Finally Serve the apple stuffing topped with the crunchy baked crumble. Tastes amazing with so
