Introduced to Goa by the Portuguese, Bread Fruit is an easy vegetable to work with. This week I cooked bread fruit in the way most of us local Goans love; ‘masala rawa fry’. Bread Fruit Rawa Fry
Ingredients:
Bread fruit – 1 no.
Turmeric – 3/4 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Jeera powder – 1/4 tsp
Rawa (semolina) – for coating
Oil – for frying
Salt to taste

Method :
Peel & core the bread fruit. Cut into slices & wash under running water. Prepare a mixture of the salt, turmeric chilli powder & jeera. Add a tea spoon of oil & add in the cut bread fruit slices. Mix & coat well. Leave to marinate for about 10 min. Add some rawa to a plate. Coat each slice of bread fruit in the rawa.
Heat some oil in a frying pan. Add in the rawa coated bread fruit. Fry for about 5min on each side & serve.
