Tofu teriyaki

For the teriyaki sauce

Dark soy – ½ cup

Water – ¼ cup

Rice wine – 2tbsp

Brown sugar – 2tsp

Sugar – ¼ cup

Sambal sauce

Chili flakes – ½ tsp

Fish sauce – 1tbsp

Ginger – ½ tsp

Garlic – ½ tsp

Jiggery – ½ tsp

Lime juice – ½ tsp

Rice vinegar – ½ tsp

Chopped onion – ½ tsp

Tofu – 200gm

Flour – ½ cup

Oil – for frying


1)     Begin the recipe by collecting your mise en place.

2)      Dust the tofu in flour while the oil is pre heating.

3)      Deep fry the tofu fingers in oil. Strain once golden brown.

4)      For the teriyaki sauce, mix all the ingredients together in a pan & bring to a boil. For the sambal sauce, sauté the onion, garlic & ginger. Add in the rest of the ingredients & mix with the teriyaki sauce.

5)      Finally add in the tofu & toss in the sauce gently not to brake it. Sprinkle spring onion on top to garnish.
